KMV’S Dr Madhumeet translated stories published by Sahitya Akademi- The National Academy of Letters
Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi Felicitate Dr Madhumeet for her achievement
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment with Top National and State Rankings by India Today Survey of Best Colleges 2020 (various categories) & Outlook Magazine’s Dr. Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English was felicitated by KMV Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi as her translated stories was published by Sahitya Akademi in the book titled ‘Something Unspoken Too’.
Dr. Madhumeet averred that most of the stories in this collection bear testimony to the unique aspect of art and craft through which one searches the hidden, unrevealed, mysterious and the unspoken all in an effort to understand the complexities of human motives and actions.
Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated Dr. Madhumeet and averred that Dr. Madhumeet has been fervently serving society by working in close association with NGO's like Lions Club, Dastak, Goonj, Alfa Mahendru Foundation, FOGSI, NARCHI etc. It is for this reason that she has often been felicitated and awarded. Some being Mother Teresa Award for Exemplary Social Service, Best Teacher Award by Union Bank of India, Shiksha Rattan Purskar, Yuva Puraskar, Bhartiya Bhasha Parishad, Kolkata among others.
Dr Madhumeet felt beholden for this honour and averred that such awards & felicitations always motivate her to work with doubled zeal and commitment.
It is pertinent to mention that Dr Madhumeet is a Gold Medalist in M.A. English, had stood 1st in University in M.Phil and has done her Ph.D in Indo-Anglian Literature. She has earned a lot of acclaim for her translation work. Her English translation of Kartar Singh Duggal’s anthology of short stores “Mitti Mussalman Di” has been appreciated in India and abroad. She has been quoted at length by the erstwhile Prime Minister Mr. I.K. Gujral in the foreword to K.S. Duggal’s collection of short stories “Abducted Not and other stories of partition holocaust”. She is a regular translator with Sahitya Akedemi- The National Academy of Letters, New Delhi. She has written 4 books, about 70 publications in International and National Journals 45 research papers in International & National Seminars, Conferences & Workshops to her credit. She shoulders editorial responsibilities by being on the board of many national & internationals journals like- Thematics – International Journal of American Literature, The Literature Amrosia, Seenidhi Journal of English Writing etc. She is the Editor of two International Journals- The Literary Icon and the oracle. She has been awarded Nation Builder Award (2018) by Rotary Club of Jalandhar city. She was also honoured by Dainik Bhaskar with Shikshak Summan 2018 during a function organized on Teacher's Day to commemorate the exemplary contribution of acclaimed teachers to the society. She was also bestowed Appreciation & Social Service & Education Award by International Human Right Organization for her contribution to social work. /(Februar 21, 2021)
