Jalandhar, June 22, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), India’s pioneering institution for women’s education, is proud to announce the remarkable success of its job-enhancing progressive programs and initiatives introduced under its autonomous status. These programs have not only empowered students but had also significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of the region.
Throwing more light on it, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV has ushered in a new era of progressive quality education by introducing multiple academic reforms to provide global standards in Higher Education for the students of the region. These first time initiatives are path-breaking educational reforms, in sync with the New Education Policy 2020 of Govt. of India. It is pertinent to mention that the upgraded syllabi of all the programs of KMV under autonomy has been designed by invaluable inputs from 140 academicians from universities and industrial experts from all over India. These decisions were finally approved by the Governing Body and Academic Council of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya which has representatives of UGC, Guru Nanak Dev University, Ministry of Education of Punjab and many eminent educationists from across the country. All these path breaking initiatives of KMV, have been legislated by the Governing Body of KMV under the Presidentship of Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal. Chander Mohan stated that KMV stands as a beacon of excellence, a role model for other educational establishments worldwide as at KMV, we are committed to fostering an environment where innovation, critical thinking, and academic rigour are the cornerstones of our educational philosophy. Our curriculum is meticulously designed to align with international benchmarks, ensuring that our students are well-prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of a globalised world.
Speaking on the upgraded syllabi, Prof. Dwivedi stated that under the autonomy, KMV has revamped its curriculum to include industry-relevant courses and skill development modules. This initiative is aimed at bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements. Courses in various emerging fields have been introduced, ensuring that students are equipped with contemporary skills. KMV has also forged strong partnerships with leading companies and organisations to provide students with real-world exposure. Regular workshops, seminars, webinars, industrial visits and guest lectures by industry experts have been organised to keep students abreast of the latest industry trends and practices. These collaborations have also led to internship opportunities and placement drives, significantly improving the employability of students. Also recognising the importance of entrepreneurship in job creation, KMV has launched several initiatives to foster entrepreneurial skills among students. The introduction of value added program of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creative Thinking / Job Readiness in semester V of undergraduate students provides mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. The autonomous status has enabled KMV to bolster its placement services. The Placement Cell now offers comprehensive career counselling, resume building workshops, mock interviews, and job fairs. These efforts have resulted in a marked increase in the number of students securing international placements in USA with prestigious companies with attractive salary packages. KMV’s progressive programs have extended their benefits beyond the campus. Various community outreach programs have been initiated to uplift underprivileged sections of society. Skill development workshops, vocational training programs, and awareness campaigns on health, hygiene, and digital literacy especially for women have been conducted in nearby communities, creating a ripple effect of positive change. To ensure the highest standards of education, KMV has invested in continuous faculty development. Teachers are encouraged to pursue research and attend national and international conferences. The establishment of research centres in collaboration with reputed institutions has further enhanced the academic environment, fostering a culture of innovation and inquiry. Students have expressed their appreciation for the initiatives under autonomy.
Pranjali Sharma, a final-year student, shared, “The new courses and industry interactions have given me a clear career path. I feel confident and prepared for the job market.”
Similarly, Jagriti, an aspiring entrepreneur, stated, “The support from the KMV has been invaluable. I am now ready to launch my startup.”
