Knowledge: A Compulsion, Not a Luxury – MP Manish Tewari
Member of Parliament from Chandigarh Manish Tewari graced the Prize Distribution Ceremony at Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College along with Guest of Honour, Pawan Dewan and CA Shri Bharat Rattan Aggarwal.

Chandigarh, March 01, 2025: Member of Parliament from Chandigarh Manish Tewari graced the Prize Distribution Ceremony at Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College along with Guest of Honour, Pawan Dewan and CA Shri Bharat Rattan Aggarwal.
On the occasion, 1,030 meritorious students were honoured for their outstanding performance in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. The awards included Roll of Honour-80, College Colour-108, Certificates of Distinction-503, and Certificate of Merit-339. Celebrating academic excellence among faculty, eight professors who completed their Ph.D.s were honoured, while two ANOs were acknowledged for successfully finishing their NCC training.
Chief guest, Manish Tewari, a distinguished alumnus encouraged young achievers to embark on a new trajectory, reminding them that the world ahead will be far more complex. He stressed the importance of staying vigilant, keeping their eyes and ears open, and continuously updating themselves academically.
Emphasizing the indispensability of excellence, he highlighted that the future of humankind lies at the intersection of two civilizations—the virtual and the physical. He urged students to make judicious choices, cautioning that “the choices you make come with their implications.” Addressing the prize winners, he advised, “Keep reading, keep studying, stay updated, and don’t let the march of human civilization delete you!”
As a gesture of support, he announced a contribution of Rs. 10 lakh from the MPLADS fund to the college.
President GGDSD College Society, Vaishali Sharma shared her pride in seeing distinguished alumni like Sh. Manish Tewari achieve such remarkable heights. She congratulated the students on their achievements and extended her best wishes to their proud parents.
College Principal, Dr. Ajay Sharma while reading the annual report, highlighted numerous achievements, including an All India rank of 70 in NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) by the Ministry of Education, placing it among the top 0.002% of colleges in India. The college has been recognized for its academic prestige with an A+ accreditation in the fourth cycle. Dr Ajay proudly announced that the college excelled in sports and cultural domain, winning the Shadi Lal Overall Memorial trophy for Men, for the fourth consecutive year, bagging the title of ‘The Best College in Sports’ among more than 200 colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, a gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship and securing the Overall Runners-up Trophy at the Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival, (Chandigarh, Zone A), and the Second Runners-up at the Inter-Zonal Youth Festival.
Dr. Sharma shared that GGDSD College is the only college under Panjab University to receive a grant under the PM-USHA Scheme of Education. The college's commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement has earned it several certificates of appreciation. The Institution Innovation Council, GGDSD college, secured a 4-star rating from the Ministry of Education for the third consecutive year. Meanwhile, the placement cell facilitated 500 campus recruitments. The college reputation was reinforced through rankings in India Today, The Week, Outlook, and The Times .
General Secretary of GGDSD College Society, Dr. Anirudh Joshi, delivered the Vote of Thanks, praising Manish Tewari as a man of substance whose relentless hard work and perseverance enabled him to overcome obstacles and achieve phenomenal political heights. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
