Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda empowers rural youth and farmers with mushroom cultivation training
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bathinda, organized a ten-day vocational training program on Mushroom cultivation from September 11 to September 22, to empower rural youth, farmers, and farm women with valuable skills in mushroom cultivation, processing, and marketing. Fifty participants from various villages in the district enthusiastically attended the program.
Ludhiana, September 22, 2023: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bathinda, organized a ten-day vocational training program on Mushroom cultivation from September 11 to September 22, to empower rural youth, farmers, and farm women with valuable skills in mushroom cultivation, processing, and marketing. Fifty participants from various villages in the district enthusiastically attended the program.
Dr Gurdeep Singh, Deputy Director (Training), inaugurated the training and highlighted the significance of mushroom cultivation in skill development and rural empowerment. The participants received comprehensive insights into different mushroom species, their scientific cultivation, processing techniques, and marketing strategies from Dr Sarvpriya Singh, Assistant Professor of Fruit Science.
Dr APS Dhaliwal, Professor Animal Science, delivered a lecture on waste management of compost, emphasizing sustainable practices. Dr G. S. Dhillon, Professor, Extension Education, shared valuable guidance on marketing skills, equipping trainees with essential knowledge for successful market entry.
Dr J. K. Brar, Associate Professor in Home Science, conducted a practical demonstration on the preparation of mushroom pickles, adding a practical dimension to the training. Dr Vinay Singh, Assistant Professor in Plant Protection, provided insights into insect pests and mushroom disease management, ensuring the trainees are well-prepared to address challenges.
Additionally, Dr Inderjeet Singh Jassal, Horticulture Development Officer (HDO) in Bathinda, discussed various schemes related to mushroom cultivation, providing valuable information for those considering this as a subsidiary occupation.
The vocational training program concluded with a motivational message encouraging trainees to embrace mushroom cultivation to supplement their family income. The participants expressed keen interest and shared helpful information, showcasing their enthusiasm for mushroom cultivation.
