Kular demands new storm sewer for rainwater drainage in city
Says today’s heavy downpour exposes inadequate drainage system
Ludhiana: Gurmeet Singh Kular, In-Charge, Halka Atam Nagar (Shiromani Akali Dal) has stated that today’s heavy downpour exposed inadequate drainage system.
In a statement here, he added the ineffective drainage network of the city stood exposed yet again as heavy rain lashed the city. In many places, sewage from overflowing opens drains mixed with the rainwater and headed up into city.
Kular demanded the proper drainage network in the city from Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Ludhiana and Balkar Singh Sandhu, Mayor, Ludhiana, to look into the miserable condition of roads of the city due to rains.
He said the stagnant water on roads does not cause the congestion in traffic movement, but also damages the roads.
Kular asked that the Municipal Corporation should clean all the sewerages network of the city to control water logging in this rainy season.
