Ludhiana, June 11, 2013: The United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), Ludhiana president Gurmeet Singh Kular met Surjit Singh Rakhra, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat, Punjab on Monday and had a long discussion regarding the shortage of labour in the industry.
The minister was also worried about the shortage of the labour, said Kular in a statement, adding he (Kular) suggested that in order to overcome this problem, the employed youths in the villages should be asked to come to Ludhiana and contact the association for registration their name for the employment in the association’s employment exchange.
He further opined that if this happened then there would not be any more shortage of labour in the future and the selected candidates would be given jobs according to their capabilities.
He said he also suggested to the minister that he should instruct the officers of his department to give vide publicity in this regard in the villages to overcome the problem of labour problem in the industry.
The minister gave a patient hearing and also appreciated the proposal, said Kular.
