Ludhiana, May 26, 2023: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kapurthala started campaign on soil testing. After the harvesting of wheat sufficient time is there before the transplanting of paddy. So this is the right time for soil testing so that the judicious application of fertilizers can be done on the basis of soil test report. As per the data of soil samples tested at KVK, Kapurthala soil testing lab during last year, 92.2 per cent samples were having medium to high available phosphorus hence during kharif season there is no need to apply phosphorus fertilizers in kharif crops. Hence cost of cultivation can be decreased by applying the fertilizers on the basis of soil test report. In this regard KVK, Kapurthala started soil testing campaign from village Thatta Nawan.
Dr. Gobinder Singh demonstrated the different methods of taking soil samples for different purposes.
Dr. Harinder Singh, Associate Director (KVK, Kapurthala) advised the farmers to apply fertilizers only on the basis of soil test report and promised the farmers that KVK, Kapurthala team will help in collection of soil samples at village level and will deliver the soil test reports after analysis at their doorsteps.
