KVK Langroya empowers farmers with natural farming techniques
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar conducted a two-day training session on Natural Farming at Birowal village on February 8th and 9th. The event witnessed the participation of 40 enthusiastic farmers and farmwomen eager to delve into sustainable agricultural practices.
Ludhiana, February 13, 2024: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar conducted a two-day training session on Natural Farming at Birowal village on February 8th and 9th. The event witnessed the participation of 40 enthusiastic farmers and farmwomen eager to delve into sustainable agricultural practices.
The first day commenced with a warm welcome from Assistant Professor Dr Arti Verma, who highlighted KVK's endeavours to promote natural farming. Assistant Professor Dr Baljit Singh emphasized the significance of natural agriculture in today's context and discussed pest management strategies within this framework.
On the concluding day, Dr Arti Verma elaborated on the fundamental principles and practical aspects of natural farming, focusing on the role of fruits and vegetables in human nutrition. Additionally, Assistant Professor Dr Kirandeep provided insights into value addition and processing of farm produce, while Programme Assistant Mrs Renu stressed the importance of forming self-help groups and Farmer Producer Organizations.
Demonstrations on the preparation of jeev amrit, beej amrit, and brahma astra offered hands-on learning experiences to the trainees. Participants were later given literature and summer vegetable seed kits to further support their journey into natural farming.
The event concluded with gratitude to Kulbir Kaur, the Sarpanch of Birowal village, for her invaluable assistance in organizing the training.
