KVK Solan adjudged best in Himachal Pradesh

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Solan, affiliated with Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, has been adjudged as the best KVK in Himachal Pradesh. The award was presented during the annual Regional Workshop 2024 organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ICAR-ATARI), Zone-1, Ludhiana. Presently there are 13 KVKs in Himachal Pradesh. The workshop, held last week at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University, celebrated the achievements of Krishi Vigyan Kendras falling  in Zone I.

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Solan, affiliated with Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, has been adjudged as the best KVK in Himachal Pradesh. The workshop, held last week at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University, celebrated the achievements of Krishi Vigyan Kendras falling  in Zone I.
 
The Chief Guest, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Chairman of the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Government of India, presented the award to KVK Solan. The award was received by Dr. Inder Dev, Director of Extension Education at the university and Dr. Amit Vikram, Principal Scientist and Head of KVK Solan. Dr. Udham Singh Gautam, ICAR Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) and Dr. Parvender Sheoran, Director of ATARI Zone I, were also in attendance. The work done by KVK Solan under the project on outscaling Natural farming through KVK  along with developing capsicum and pea based and plum based models have been recognised. Besides the training programmes and work done under ARYA project has also been appreciated. Looking ahead, KVK Solan aims to proactively identify and address farmer challenges while continuing to disseminate the latest crop technologies to ensure sustainable agricultural practices.
 
Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor of UHF, congratulated the scientists and staff of KVK Solan for their remarkable achievement. He emphasized that this accolade reflects the KVK’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare of the farming community. Prof. Chandel expressed optimism for the KVK's ongoing efforts in disseminating cutting-edge agricultural technology. Dr. Inder Dev and Dr. Parvender Sheoran extended their congratulations to the KVK staff for this prestigious recognition.
