Laboratory starts at isolation centre set up at Meritorious School
62 samples taken till date, results to come shortly: Doctors
Ludhiana: The District Administration and Health Department is regularly adding new facilities at the Isolation centre set up at Meritorious School, here. Now, the facility of a fully operational laboratory has also been added here.
While providing information, SMO Dr Jaspreet Kaur informed that with the start of this laboratory, now the sampling of COVID 19 can be done here, along with other tests. She said that till date, 62 samples have been taken at this laboratory, whose results are expected shortly. She said that the patients whose tests come negative are now being shifted either to their respective villages or for home quarantine.
It is pertinent to mention that due to the hard work of health department and district administration officials, the isolation centre set up at Meritorious School, here, has now started functioning as a 500-bedded hospital. The place where this isolation centre has been set up was the three-blocks of girls hostel of the Meritorious School and all facilities have been added to it later.
Now, this centre also has an operational laboratory, where the samples of all persons staying in it can be taken. Besides, all the 500 beds are properly numbered, it has an operational pharmacy, patient registration counter, laundry for washing of all kinds of bedding, hygienic mess for food, private security, private company is managing sanitation of this centre, counsellors motivate the persons at regular intervals, besides, the District Administration is also planning to organise yoga sessions for the persons staying here. The laboratory is equipped for testing of HB, sugar, urine, besides sampling of COVID 19.
Dr Jaspreet Kaur stated that at present, there are 108 persons staying at this isolation centre and when their reports come negative, they would also be sent for home quarantine to complete their 14-day quarantine so that they remain mentally and emotionally strong as they would be close to their family members.
