Ludhiana, December 5, 2018: For bringing transparency in financial transactions and payment of taxes in Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, the civic body has started the facility of making payments through digital or online mode. This facility is being well received by the public and to encourage city residents, the civic body organises a monthly draw of all such persons who use online mode or E-POS machines for making payments or paying taxes.

Till date, more than 40% of the tax payers of the city have adopted this mode of transaction and this trend is increasing with every passing day.

While providing further information, MC Additional Commissioner Mr JK Jain informed that a lucky draw of all such people was organised in MC’s Zone A office near Mata Rani Chowk, here, where 9 selected winners were awarded with attractive gifts. He said that this draw is organised every month and all people who use digital mode of payments for paying their property tax, house tax or any other tax are included in this lucky draw.

He informed that Bakshit Gupta won first prize, Tarsem Singh second, Rita Agnihotri, Beant Singh and Ashish Chawla won joint third prize, while Ritesh Kapoor, Shiv Rawat, Des Raj Ghai and Shivangi Rawat won joint fourth prize. The gifts were given by officials from HDFC Bank.

Mr Jain further stated that this facility is being well received by a large number of city residents. He clarified that residents don’t have to pay any hidden charges or surcharge for making these payments, for any payable amount. He said that for encouraging more residents to adopt online mode of payments, digital cards of City Bus Service are also being made at local bus stand, and soon, these cards would also be made at all MC Zonal offices.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Tejinderpal Singh Panchhi, HDFC Bank manager Anil Gupta, besides others.
