Last rites of Former Cabinet Minister and five times MLA Pt Bal Mukand Sharma takes place

Ferozepur: People across political and social spectrum converged at the city cremation ground to bid tearful adieu to the former cabinet minister and five-time Congress MLA and senior All India Congress leader Pandit Bal Mukand Sharma who was cremated with State honours today.
Rajinder Sharma, the eldest of the four sons of Sharma, lit the pyre of his father. On this occasion, Jalalabad MLA Raminder Awla, Deputy Commissioner Gurpal Singh Chahal, Bhupinder Singh SSP, Amit Gupta SDM, Anumit Singh Sodhi, Member of Information Commission and son of Cabinet Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Gurcharan Singh Nahar, District President Congress were also present on this occasion. Notably, Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had also expressed his grief over the demise of Sharma.
Sharma had breathed his last in PGIMS Chandigarh on Saturday where he was admitted last month on December 16 after being shifted from Ferozepur. Sharma represented Ferozepur in Vidhan Sabha for five times from 1969 to 2002. He had won his first election in 1969 on Bharti Jan Sangh (BJS) ticket and later on joined Congress and won the subsequent election in 1972 as Congress nominee defeating his arch rival Girdhara Singh against whom he contested five elections.
