As per the official notification, the application process for COMEDK UGET 2019 exam started on 16th January 2019 and the last date of application is 19th April 2019. All the aspiring candidates can visit the official website https://www.comedk.org/ for completing the application process.
This year around 72,152 candidates have applied for the exam. In between, COMEDK released a notice regarding changes in the eligibility conditions for the admission to 1st year of 5 years B.Arch degree and thus bringing changes in the eligibility norms of COMEDK UGET 2019.
According to the notice, COMEDK has changed the eligibility criteria to include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects at 10+2 level for admission to 1st Year of 5-Year B.Arch course from the academic session 2019-2020.
From the official notice it could be inferred that:
1. A candidate who does not have the three compulsory subjects- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in their 10+2 exam will not be eligible to apply for COMEDK UGET.
2. Furthermore, one needs to clear 10+2 examination with minimum 50% aggregate in the overall examination to be eligible.
3. Additionally, a candidate must have a National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) score card or should have cleared any equivalent architecture exam to be eligible for the counselling process.
Althoughit is a minor change it will certainly affect a lot of students who were willing to apply for COMEDK UGET 2019. There are many students who could not score 50% marks in all PCM and stand ineligible as per the latest eligibility criteria.
As there is no entrance exam for students applying for architecture courses, the eligibility conditions are the only basis for admission. So, all the aspiring candidates have to keep in mind these changes in the eligibility norms before applying for the exam.
The changes have been made only to the eligibility conditions for 5-Year B.Arch course and all the other eligibility conditions for engineering exam are same as before. For engineering courses, the aspiring candidates are required to have cleared 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized Board with at least 45 percent (40 percent for reserved categories).
In addition to this, Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects for such candidates and Chemistry or biotechnology or biology or electronics or computer can be one of the optional subjects.
COMEDK UGET is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) for admission to undergraduate engineering courses at around 190 engineering colleges in the state of Karnataka. Around 20,000 seats are offered under the exam.
It is a single computer-based exam followed by a counselling process. The exam will be available in the English language and the total time duration of the exam will be 3 hours.
COMEDK UGET exam is scheduled to be conducted on 12th May 2019 across 300 centers for the Engineering programs. The admit cards for the exam will be released on 3rd May 2019 as per the important dates released by COMEDK.
It should be noted that there will be no entrance exam for students applying for B.Arch courses and are required to fill a separate application form.
