Special Lectures on Constitution Day
The Constitution Day was celebrated in the University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University in collaboration with NSS. Co-ordinator, NSS Dr. Anupam Bahri welcomed Prof. Rattan Singh, Director, UILS and Dr. Shruti Bedi, Associate Professor (Law), UILS to deliver special lectures on the series of Constitution Day.
While speaking on the constitution morality, Prof. Rattan Singh highlighted the importance of constitution. Preamble is the fundamental principle of all the laws from where they take support and spirit. To provide social and economic justice in the contemporary state of affairs, it is paramount to read, recite and execute the spirit of preamble of constitution, which provides secularism, socialism, social morality and ensure justice. 
While speaking on the significance of the constitution, Dr.  Shruti Bedi highlighted values of the fundamental duties under the constitution. She pointed out that these are not mere fundamental duties, but the ground realities which every citizen should follow in the course of his life in the civilized society. 

THIRD DAY OF SEVEN-DAY WORKSHOP ON DHVANYALOKA
Prof. Prabhavati Chaudhary from Sanskrit Department of Panjab University and Prof. Upendra Rao from University were the faculty for third day of the workshop on the Sanskrit text Dhvanyaloka organized by Philosophy Department of Panjab University. 
Prof. Chaudhary emphasized on philosophical aspect of Poetics in her lectures. She explained the dialogue between different schools of philosophy and literature on the concept of Dhvani. She beautifully explained how three gunas in poetics, i.e. Madhurya, Oja and Prasad are different to each other in word composition. She gave examples of Kalidasa and Shiv TandavaStotra while explaining these gunas and stressed upon the selection of particular letters and words so as to generate the guna. In second session of the day, Prof. Chaudhary imparted the lecture based upon the Lochana Commentary of the text written by Acharya Abhinavagupta.
Another Sanskrit exponent Prof. Rao in third session of the day stressed solely upon the literary aspects of the theme. He elaborated direct and implied meanings of words with beautiful examples from different sanskrit scriptures. He concluded the day with the explanation of Vachaand Rasa. He said kavya is not studied only for literary joy but also for yoga and spiritual attainment.     

EXPERT TALK HELD AT UIET
Dr. Philip Breedon, Professor of Smart Technologies, School of Science and Technology at Nottingham Trent University, delivered an expert talk on research related to ‘Medical Engineering Design’ at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, here today. He shared that the broad areas of research of their group are health, rehabilitation and regeneration; performance and experience; mechanical, materials and manufacturing engineering; medical engineering and design. He discussed the features of research projects called FRAME i.e. facial remote activity monitoring system; interface 3D-stroke rehabilitation; surgical robotics; wearable handsets in spinal surgery; 3D printing and Bone Scaffolds. He also discussed SoliBot that is a co-robotics device for spinal surgery. He described how this research can be used to treat and study diseases like Parkinson’s disease using wearable wrist device. A novel and promising active aortic vascular graft has been proposed by them for heart related ailments. 
Dr. Breedon briefed the audience about his ongoing research project with PepsiCo under PepsiCo Partnership Innovation. He briefly spoke about research and infrastructure facilities at NTU and further motivated the researchers to develop innovative projects and showcase their work to NTU. The highly interactive and enriching talk was attended by Undergraduate, Post Graduate students, PhD research scholars and faculty from UIET.
