Chandigarh, June 20, 2019: For the overall development of the society, it is important to understand the issues pertaining to the development of the community and the individuals, specifically. In order to understand the dynamics of community life, theoretically and practically, it enables the students to understand the issues pertaining to community development at the national as well as at the global level. It trains the students to develop skills and competence for catering to the learning needs of the students so that they could contribute to the overall development of the individual and society at large. With this objective the Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University is running two courses M.A (Community Education & Development) and B.Ed Special Education (Learning Disability). 1. Masters of Arts (M.A)(Community Education & Development) :- Community Education and Development as an independent discipline evolves from the realms of education and social sciences that caters to the communities in general socially marginalized, poor, deprived and disadvantaged sections in specific through experts trained for the purpose. Imparting training and building human resources is the need of the hour for the over- all development of the society by having partnership with state, civil society and NGOs etc. in an effort to bring all sections of society under the umbrella of community education and development. It intends to develop potential among the takers of this course to get employment in educational institutions to work as counsellors, facilitators in government and non-government organizations, public health educators, human rights activists and other institutions devoted to the upliftment of the community. The eligibility for admission in this course is minimum 50% marks (45% marks in Case of SC/ ST) at graduation level in any stream. Admission will be based on merit. Duration of this course is two academic years: Semester system. 2. B.Ed Special Education (Learning Disability);- The B.Ed. Special Education programme aims to develop Special Education teachers/Educators for children with disabilities for various settings (including Inclusive, Special, Open School and Home Based Education). The B.Ed. (Special Education) programme will prepare human resources to enable them to acquire knowledge and develop competencies and skills to impart education and training effectively to children with disability as well as all other children.It intends to develop conceptual understanding of educational provisions for children with various disabilities in Special and inclusive settings and Enhance knowledge and skills for professional development. Duration of this course is two academic years: Semester system ---0--- PU Result It is for the information of the general public and students of Panjab University Teaching Departments/Colleges in particular that result of the following examination has been declared:- M.Sc(H.S) Zoology 4th Semester,May19 The students are advised to see their result in their respective Departments/ Colleges/ University website. ---0--- Human Resource Development Centre, Panjab University in collaboration with the Department of Education organized a week long programme under CALEM on Qualitative Research Method: Application for College and University Teachers. The programme was a funded by Centre for Academic Leadership and Educational Management, Department of Education, coordinated by Professor Jitendra Grover. The programme was attend by 41 candidates from Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Resource persons came from the disciplines of anthropology, Education, Cultural studies, political science, Psychology, Medicine and administration. Professor Nishtha Jaswal in her valedictory address emphasized over the need to use mixed method in research as both qualitative as well as quantitative methods complement each other to frame research questions, building hypothesis and substantiating their arguments. She cited several judicial decisions like on LGTB and Adhar. ---0--- Three Research scholars namely Ms Neetu Goyal (working with Dr Kashmir Singh), Ms Bandana Kumari and Ms Jashandeep Kaur (both working with Prof Jagdeep Kaur) from Department of Biotechnology, Panjab University, Chandigarh are going to deliver talk on their research work at "World Summit on Biotechnology and CRISPR Advances" going to be held in Singapore on June 24-25, 2019. Ms Neetu will present her work on Characterization of powdery mildew stress responsive genes in grapes. Whereas Ms Bandana and Ms Jashandeep will discuss role or lipase genes Rv1900c and Rv0518 for survival of Mycobacterium tuberculosis respectively.
