Latest Scanners to ease security at Airports: Civil Aviation ministry in response to MP Arora
The Ministry of Civil Aviation is conceptualizing installing Computed Tomography X-Ray (CTX) baggage scanners at airports in which passengers need not to divest electronic items from their hand baggage during security check.
Ludhiana, March 31, 2023: The Ministry of Civil Aviation is conceptualizing installing Computed Tomography X-Ray (CTX) baggage scanners at airports in which passengers need not to divest electronic items from their hand baggage during security check. It may increase time efficiency at airports and enable ease of security check for travelers. The techno-economic feasibility study for the same is currently underway. This technology also enables foolproof security for travelers.
This has been stated by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Gen (Dr) V K Singh (Retd) during a recent session of the Rajya Sabha in reply to a question on upgradation of security scanners at airports asked by AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora.
Giving this information in a statement here today, Arora said he had asked whether the Ministry of Civil Aviation is planning to install latest C2 technology baggage scanners in which electronics items need not to be taken out during security check which will increase time efficiency at airports and also will enable ease of security check for travelers; and if so, the timeline for their installation at major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. This technology is already being used in various airports in Europe & America.
Meanwhile, Arora welcomed the initiative being taken by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in upgrading of security scanners at airports. He hoped that the ongoing techno-economic feasibility study for the same will be completed soon and further necessary action will be initiated as early as possible. He said the upgradation of security scanners at airports is need of the hour for increasing time efficiency at airports and to enable ease of security check for travelers as has been mentioned by the Minister in his reply.
