Latest Trends in IT discussed at GGNIMT

Ludhiana, August 13, 2012: GGN Institute of Management and Technology organised a seminar on `Latest Trends in IT’ for the BCA and MCA students here today.

Dr. Hardeep Singh, Dean Academics, GNDU, was the resource person for the day. Dr. Hardeep discussed in length the evolution of hardware and software industry. He informed the students that he belonged to an IT age where there were large sized machines with the Hard disk of just  20 MB and with the advent of Personal Computers, there was a drastic revolution in the  IT scenario and today the technology witnesses a  change in  every 4 years.

Talking about the generations of Internet, Dr. Hardeep said that Ist generation of Web enabled information browsing where the users were mere consumers. With the popping up of networking sites, the users in the second generation have also become contributors and content developers.

Dr. Hardeep exhorted that the 3rd generation would witness the integration of all sorts unstructured information available in different formats and devices in a synchronous manner.

He also   guided the budding IT professionals to keep themselves abreast of latest technologies in the area of their choice. He discussed  about the various software development  methodologies and urged the students to focus on their theories well to understand the practicals. He motivated the students to go deep in their topic and avoid looking for shortcuts .He  also motivated the youngsters to work hard to develop a strong foundation at an early age.

He also interacted with the faculty of the institute and motivated them to develop a culture of research. He gave them various tips on how to go about identifying and working on a real problem.

Principal Dr. P. S Khattra and Co-ordinator Prof. Gunwant Singh Dua were also present on he occasion.
