Lawyer attacked, Bar Council goes on strike in protest

Ferozepur, June 24, 2017: Lawyers belonging to Ferozepur district went on strike today following an attack on an advocate in broad daylight. Pankaj Sharma, an advocate and social worker was attacked Saturday night by some assailants. He received severe head injuries and was admitted in the civil hospital. Shivdeep Singh Sandhu, President, Bar Council, Ferozepur demanded stern action against the culprits. “No one can be allowed take such violent step against any lawyer who are one of the pillars of democracy”, said Shivdeep.

Meanwhile, police have booked two persons, both residents of Ferozepur cantonment area under Sections 379-B, 323, 334 of the IPC following a complaint lodged by Pankaj Sharma at Ferozepur Cantt. Both of them have been identified, said the police. No arrests were made till now.
