Ludhiana: Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal leaders including Sunil Mehra (state general secretary), Mohinder Aggarwal (state secretary) and others including Harkesh Mittal, Pawan Lahar, Arvinder Singh Makkar, Kuljit Singh, Khushjit Singh, Jarnail Singh and Ram Lal said it was regretted to note that the corrupt bureaucracy was conspiring to destroy trade and industry of the state by launching series of nakas and raids during the festival season. On the other hand Punjab minister Manpreet Singh Badal was openly asking officials not to lay nakas anywhere in the state after holding meetings with the traders.However, the bureaucracy was got following these orders, which was a matter of regret, they said.
Further, they said it was a matter of concern that prime posts were being allotted to officers who were indulging into cases of corruption in the past ten years. The slogan of giving corruption-free governance by the Capt Amarinder Singh Government was now nothing expect a "show piece". They said it was shocking that the state government had no time to listen to the problems and grievances of the traders' community.
Adding, they said a meeting of Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal would be held after the Diwali festival during which all misdeeds of government officers would be made public. All these facts would also be brought to the notice of Punjab chief minister, Capt Amarinder Singh. They said the traders would not hesitate to come on the roads if the state government failed to pay heeds to their burning issues.
