Chandigarh March 21, 2024: Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology and Department of Microbiology organized Lecture-cum-Workshop on Forensic Odontology in Department of Anthropology & Zoology Auditorium, Panjab University, Chandigarh on March 20.
The program was attended by Undergraduate and Postgraduate students and Faculty members of Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University, Chandigarh along with delegates from other Dental Colleges.
Dr. Shally Gupta was the Organizing Chairperson; Dr. Manjula Mehta was Organizing Co-Chairperson; Dr. Anubha Gulati was Chairperson Scientific Committee and Dr. Simranjit Singh was Co-Chairperson Scientific Committee; Other faculty members and post graduate students were part of Organizing Committee of the Event. Dr. Harjot Kairon, Associate Professor, Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Sarabha Dental College, Ludhiana, Punjab was Invited as Guest Speakers in the Program.
The Program began with Inauguration by all the Faculty members, Guest speaker, Principal-cum-Professor Dr. Deepak Gupta and Dr. Ashok Utreja. Inauguration was followed by Academic session which includede-poster competition in which Dr. Harshit got the first prize, Dr. Vanshika got the second prize and Dr. Supreet got the third prize. E-poster competition was followed by lecture by renowned speaker Dr. Harjot Kairon, followed by hands on workshop on Age and Gender estimation using Orthopantomogram. Following Guest Lecture Cake cutting was done marking the celebration of National Oral Pathologists Day.
The speaker illuminated the delegates with theoretical as well as practical knowledge of some important aspects of forensic odontology. The audience got a glimpse of the scope of forensic odontology and an insight on the employability and research opportunities in this novel subject. Delegates took back immense amount of knowledge. Delegates felt inspired and got a new perspective and keen approach towards forensic odontology.
