Lecture on Ayurveda organised by Sanskrit Department, PU

Chandigarh, March 8, 2022: A lecture on Ayurveda was organised by the Sanskrit department, Panjab University today on the event of international Women’s day. The speaker was Ms. Shyampriyaa, Lokayurved Key Catalyst. The lecture was titled ‘Nari Svasthya Sanjivani: Homemaker - Hope for Health and Happiness’. In the lecture, Ms. Shyampriyaa introduced the audience with the key concepts of Ayurveda like health and lifestyle management. She emphasised on the importance of popularising the portion of Ayurveda which relates to lifestyle guidance and prevention of disease. “People usually think of Ayurveda as a pathy, but it is much more than that’, said Ms. Shyampriyaa, asserting that it’s the science of life itself. She referred to various fundamental texts of Ayurveda, like Sushruta Samhita, Charaka Samhita, Ashtanga Hridaya, etc. She reminded the audience of the Ayurvedic wisdom of our old grandmothers and great grandmothers, which is popularly known as ‘nuskhe’. She also reiterated the importance of women in the practice of Ayurveda. The chairperson of the department Prof. Virendra Kumar Alankar expressed happiness on the event of the lecture by Ms. Shyampriyaa and told how women, who have been given an honourable status in the Vedic dharma, should be given opportunities to rise and shine in academics as well as in other fields. Students of MA Sanskrit and the teaching faculty took part in the lecture. The lecture was followed by a Q&A session.
Ms. Shyampriyaa is a disciple of India’s renowned Ayurvedacharya Vaidya Hitesh Jani, ex principal and HoD, Panchkarma, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar. Under Jani’s guidance, the concept of Lokayurved has been put to practice, where a lot of women have been engaged in the learning and propagation of Ayurved.
