Lecture on “Menstrual Health, Reproductive Rights and Consent”
The event held to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day
Chandigarh, May 20, 2022: Panjab University Girls Hostels, Sector 25 cluster (Girls Hostel No.8 to 10 and International Hostel), under the able guidance of Prof. Jagtar Singh (Dean Student Welfare), Prof Meena Sharma (Dean Student Welfare-Women), Prof. Ashok Kumar (Associate-DSW), organized a lecture on “Menstrual Health, Reproductive Rights and Consent” to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28. The guest speakers Prof. Jyoti Seth and Mrs. Neeraj Aggarwal interacted with the female participants and discussed various issues related to the menstruation including societal taboos, health problems and proper disposal of menstrual waste. The lecture created awareness among the young female residents about the menstruation cycle and breaking the taboos or challenges for the access of menstrual products. A good number of students participated in the interactive session. Prof Meena Sharma (DSW-W), Dr. Shipra Gupta (Warden, GH-09), Dr. Simran Kaur (Warden, GH-08), Dr. Varinder Kaur (Warden GH-10) and Dr. Ravinder Kaur (Warden, IH) were also present in the session.
