Lecture on Vision for Panjab University @ 2047 

Chandigarh, August 11, 2023: Lecture on Vision for Panjab University @ 2047 was delivered by Professor Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University at the Department of Physics today. 

The lecture was jointly hosted by SPSTI, INYAS- INSA, CRIKC, TEC, Science Academies to commemorate 75 years of Indian Independence and to assess the role of HEIs. Prof Keya, General Secretary of SPSTI welcomed members on the dias. 
President SPSTI Dharamvir introduced the lecture series and Prof Arun Grover, ex Vice Chancellor of PU introduced Prof Renu Vig and gave his welcome remarks. The lecture and mission expressed by Prof. Renu Vig assumes more significance due to the Northern Region S&T cluster being led by PU & IIT Ropar. Prof. Renu Vig said that PU established in 1882 has always been a front runner for bringing together institutions, scientific laboratories, industry and society together to take India to a leading position in the world. She emphasized on the need for more applied research and collaborative ventures in Panjab University. In her address, she also threw light on the main areas of the new joint cluster such as agriculture, healthcare, technology development, waste management and green energy. During her talk, she also spoke about the various challenges faced to improve the infrastructure of the campus. 

Prof. Vig mentioned that PU is perfectly positioned to be a Research Intensive University. She articulated the vision and mission of PU to retain the top spot in the world and produce leaders in different domains. Prof Vig ended her lecture by expressing her wish to make PU the best in the world. 

The talk was followed by intensive discussions amongst the audience and the speaker. Concluding remarks were given by DUI, Prof Rumina Sethi. Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof R K Kohli, Vice Chancellor of Amity University, Mohali.
