Chandigarh, August 14, 2019: A Legal Aid Camp was organized at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hall, Boy’s Hostel No. 4 of the Panjab University. The clinic was inaugurated by Prof Emanual Nahar, Dean Student Welfare, Panjab University who appreciated the initiative and said to contribute fully for this unique cause. Dean Student Welfare, Prof Emanual Nahar in his address said that Legal Aid is the constitutional provision of assistance to people otherwise unable to afford legal representation and access to the court system. Prof. Nahar highlighted that the Legal Aid Society of the University Institute of Legal Studies, is taking its commitment of rendering effective and accessible legal aid a notch higher and has launched the scheme of ‘Mobile Legal Aid Clinics’ under which they would organize legal aid clinics at various places which would be more accessible for the masses to seek redressal of their grievances. Dr. Jaskaran Singh, Dr. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Dr. Sanjeev Gautam, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Dr. Rajeev Kumar graced the event as guest of honour. As a part of the said initiative, the Legal Aid Society members of the University Institute of Legal Studies guided the residents, workers and other staff members of the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hall about various social issues pertaining to the downtrodden sections of the society and also made them aware about their legal and fundamental rights. The camp also addressed one-to-one individual problems as well, providing legal consultancy and advice to the aggrieved people. This clinic was conducted by the members of the Legal Aid Society under the leadership of Kunal Soni, Lokesh Mittal and Ruchika Hooda.
