LETTER TO EDITOR: SBI Business Facilitators fight to survive

Kamlesh Kumar

As per RBI’s Financial Inclusion Plan we were working as Business Facilitator in State Bank of India since 2007 or later. SBI had engaged us on experience basis. SBI’s performance in rural areas was very good with the help of Business Facilitator. We in fact, put our everything to promote and reciprocation.  After joining in SBI all the Business Facilitator’s left their previous job.
On the 11th April 2012, SBI has terminated all the Business Facilitator in India without any proper reason. The reason shown by the Bank, achieving the financial inclusion goal of the bank has not been served and not functioning as per laid down instructions and indulging in certain wrong practice. After 4 or 5 years working with SBI, Bank has terminated us. How can we survive, how our children can continue their education, Good knows.
It is noticeable that Corporate and NGO Business Facilitators are still working, only individual Business Facilitators have been terminated.
SBI Management says, it is the policy decision. But we want to know from SBI, can any policy decision is cause of unemployment of more than 10 thousand educated young who have left their previous jobs for them.
We have contacted Pranab Mukherjee, Arun Jaitley, Gurudas Dasgupta, Sitaram Yechuri, Rahul Gandhi and many more for this issue, but no result has come out.

Gen. Secretary,
