Life saved by DMC&H team after serious throat injury
A patient with a serious cut throat injury was successfully treated and discharged from DMC&H. While driving a bike, his throat got entangled with an iron wire. It led to complete transection of windpipe, foodpipe and massive bleeding. It was a life-threatening injury that required immediate treatment and complex reconstructive surgery.

Ludhiana, April 29, 2025: A patient with a serious cut throat injury was successfully treated and discharged from DMC&H. While driving a bike, his throat got entangled with an iron wire. It led to complete transection of windpipe, foodpipe and massive bleeding. It was a life-threatening injury that required immediate treatment and complex reconstructive surgery.
The patient was admitted under the care of Dr. Varun Gupta, Professor Department of Surgery and treated by a multidisciplinary team. The surgery was performed by Dr. Varun Gupta and Anaesthesia team led by Dr Suneet Kant Kathuria and ENT surgeon Dr Rohit Verma .
