LIGHT & SOUND SHOW ON BATTLE OF SARAGARHI TOMORROW
SHOW TO BE HELD AT GURU NANAK STADIUM AT 6:30 PM ONWARDS Ludhiana, October 29, 2018: To make people aware about the Battle of Saragarhi, the Punjab government will be organising a light and sound show at Guru Nanak Stadium tomorrow (October 30). This show was earlier to be held on October 21, but in wake of the tragic incident at Amritsar, this show was postponed and would now be organised tomorrow. District Sainik Welfare Officer Mr GS Boparai informed that this show would start at 6:30 pm onwards. He said that the Battle of Saragarhi was an example of the bravery of the Sikh youth. He said on September 12, 1897, 21 jawans and one cook of 36 Sikh Regiment, under the leadership of Jawan Ishar Singh, had fought bravely with more than 10,000 Afghan enemies at Saragarhi, and they had killed more than 600 enemies. He said the residents must know the historical importance of the battle and the extent of bravery shown by our jawans. The show is being organised in coordination with the district administration and Army units. He also appealed to the city residents to attend this function in large numbers.
