Literary Fest held at KMV: Youth display creativity

Jalandhar, May 5, 2022: At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), a festival titled Litmania- An Ode to Creativity celebrating literature and the finer sensibilities of the life was organized by the P.G Department of English. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. 

Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed all the guests and the participating teams warmly. She averred that humanity today needed emotional intelligence, spiritual sensibility and moral self development as much as technical expertise which literature would help to inculcate. She further maintained that KMV from time to time keeps on organizing such activities which inspire the students to showcase their creative skills. 

Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the convener of the event, Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English for having organized such an event dedicated to the literature. She also appreciated the hard work of the team of PG Department of English and the student council for their sincere and whole hearted involvement in the event. 

Addressing the participants, Chander Mohan said that today’s youth needs to connect with the literature and the programmes like Litmania prove to be instrumental in this objective. These kind of events connect the students with the beautiful world of literature and enhances their power of imagination. The event commenced with the lighting of the Holy Lamp. A special item titled Literary Parade was the first item on the stage in which the students of KMV walked the stage with the enactment of their favorite literary characters. It seemed like all the favorite literary figures came to life as they jumped off the page and seemed to be real. Some of the notable figures worth mentioning during the parade were Sarojini Naidu by Sakshi, Preeti Shenoy by Bhumika, Shobha De by Muskan, Snow White by Kritika, Cinderella by Nivedita Romeo by Jasmeet, Sherlock Homes by Navroop & Cleopatra by Himanshi, The Inter College list of competitions on the occasion based on English literature included Calligraphy, Literary Characters Come Alive, Portrait Making, Poetical Recitation, Quiz & Turn Coat. Contestants from 25 different colleges & universities across Punjab and Chandigarh participated in this unique festival with full zeal & enthusiasm. 


The overall trophy was bagged by Khalsa College, Amritsar, 1st runners up trophy was bagged by KMV Jalandhar and 2nd runners up trophy was bagged by Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar.
