LITTERBUG CAUGHT IN CCTV CAMERA, MC IMPOSES PENALTY ON DC'S ORDER
TWO CCTV CAMERA SPOTTED LITTERBUG THROWING GARBAGE AT ILLEGAL DUMPING POINT Ferozepur, April 2, 2019: The initiative of installing CCTV cameras by district administration near ten illegal dumping spots to catch the litterbugs have started yielding results as two of the cameras captured litterbugs near Shimla talkies at the circular road, who were found throwing garbage. Taking strict action against the offender the municipal council authorities have challaned him under various provisions of sanitation laws who has to pay a penalty of Rs 2000 to dispose off the case. The offender has been identified as a fruit seller, who was dumping a gunny bag full of waste. Another offender was identified as a rag picker, who was dumping a gunny bag full of thermocol on the road opposite Hotel International. Her whereabouts are still under investigation. Having been spotted in the CCTV camera, the council authorities immediately identified the first offender and summoned him to the MC office, where he confessed this act. As soon as the matter was brought into the knowledge of deputy commissioner Chander Gaind, he ordered action against him. Following the deputy commissioner's order, MC challaned the fruit seller of Rs.2000. The municipal authority has confiscated his vehicle too, which would be released after paying the penalty. Divulging the details, Sanitary Inspector Sukhpal Singh said that the CCTV cameras were installed on ten spots of the city on the direction of deputy commissioner Chander Gaind and day to day monitoring was being done. All the spots have remained cleaned as no one threw garbage after the installation of CCTV cameras. This was the first case, when a litterbug was spotted polluting main circular road by throwing garbage and a challan has been issued immediately, he said. Deputy commissioner Chander Gaind said the district administration was committed to keep city clean, green and pollution free. He said that it has come to his knowledge that a few private doors to door waste collectors were dumping waste at illegal spots. Gaind said that there are twelve secondary collection points in the city where they can dump waste 7 to 9 am every day and the MC vehicles will lift garbage from these points and dump it at the main dumping ground of the city. Around 45 tons of waste is produced in the Ferozepur city everyday, which is dumped at the main dumping point situated at alike road. These twelve secondary collection places consist of near Bansi Gate, near fish market, PUDA ground, Dussehra ground near Basti Sekha, Housing Board Colony, Delhi Gate near public toilets, near Basti Bhattian Wali, Industrial area, near gobar mandi, near Namak Mandi, near Loco shed Basti Tanka Wali and near Borian Wali Gali bBasti border road. He exhorted them to dump only at above mentioned designated places and warned them that violation of instructions may attract heavy penalty. He also called upon people not to litter openly and solicited their support in making Ferozepur one of cleanest city of the country.
