Ludhiana, October 20, 2018: The 36th Lobo Memorial Oration and Continuing Medical Education (CME) was conducted today, at Christian Medical College (CMC), Hospital, Ludhiana. The event was organized by the Lobo memorial trust and the Department of orthopedics and was an academic feast to the over 200 orthopedic surgeons from the state and national level who attended the event. The theme for this year was ‘An Orthopedic Approach to spine problems'.
The oration is organized every year under the aegis of the Lobo Memorial trust and is dedicated to the memory of Dr. L.H Lobo, an eminent orthopedic surgeon who was passionate about educating the doctors of tomorrow. The event has grown by leaps and bounds over the years and this year raised the bar even higher.
Dr. William Bhatti, Director CMC addressed the gathering and welcomed the speakers and delegates. The event was also presided over by Dr. Anil Luther, Medical Superintendent, Dr.Navneet Chaudhry, the Honorary Secretary of the Lobo Memorial trust, Dr.Maninderjit Singh, President of the trust, Dr. Rajesh Paul, Head of Orthopedics department and organizing Chairman of today’s event was present among several eminent citizens of Ludhiana and executive members of the trust were present among other dignitaries.
The Chief orator for this year was the Prof. Dr. Raj Bahadur, Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University of health sciences, Punjab.Dr. Kenny David, CMC Vellore, Dr. Manoj Thakur, IGMC Shimla, Dr. Rohit Jindal, GMC Chandigarh, Dr. Saravdeep Dhatt, PGI Chandigarh, Dr. Sarvpreet S. Grewal, from CMC, Ludhiana was among the imminent speakers during today’s event.
The oration wasfollowed by a CME where distinguished state and national faculty shared their experiences dealing with spinal pathologies.
What was an exciting and engaging day was brought to a close by a cadaveric workshop on spine surgeries. This was the first cadaveric workshop on spine fixation in the city of Ludhiana. Experts in the field oversaw these master classes and they were a real boon to budding spine surgeons. The Punjab Medical council had allotted valuable points for the event as part of the continuing medical education scheme.
