Ludhiana, April 24, 2024: The district administration organized a training program for Sector Officers (SOs) in various constituencies to manage the general elections effectively. The training was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Returning Officers (ARO).
The training included working of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines. The training sessions were held in Ludhiana East, Jagraon, Payal, Atam Nagar, Ludhiana Central, Dakha, Ludhiana South, and others constituencies.
ARO Ludhiana East, Chetan Bunger, stated that sector officers had a pivotal role in election management and were responsible for election management from the day of announcement of the schedule of election until the completion of the poll process.
He said that the sector officers were assigned a ‘sector’ of the constituency/segment having 10-12 polling stations/locations. He said that separate EVMs were provided by the Election Commission of India for this purpose, and the training was done using those machines only. The sector officer should not miss any of the training sessions for polling parties, and they must be aware of the protocol regarding EVM/VVPAT management, he added.
A question-answer session was also held during which participants raised several queries, and the Master Trainers gave answers, clearing all the doubts about the EVMs and VVPATs.
