Hold meeting with nodal officers of various committees related to election process Ludhiana, April 24, 2019: The Expenditure Observers today asked all the candidates contesting the upcoming elections to maintain detailed day-to-day record of their expenditure in the "Election Expenditure Register" being provided to them by the Returning Officer. The expenditure observers today held a meeting with nodal officers of various committees related to the election process, at Sutton House, PAU, here. They showed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the District Administration in view of the upcoming elections. In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, scheduled on May 19, two expenditure observers have been deputed in Parliamentary Constituency Ludhiana-7. These expenditure observers, namely Mr SB Singh IRS and Mr Sunil Kumar Gautam IRS have reached the city. Prominent among those who attended today's meeting included Nodal Officer SVEEP Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta, ADCP (Headquarters) Mr Deepak Pareek, SP (Headquarters) Ludhiana Rural Mr Jaswinder Singh, besides Nodal Officers from Income Tax, Customs, Excise and other departments. They informed that the Election Commission of India has set a limit of Rs 70 lakh for a candidate to spend in the elections. They also urged the voters to take full advantage of mobile application C-Vigil for reporting any matter related to expenditure by candidates. Expenditure Observer Mr SB Singh would supervise the expenditure of Assembly Constituencies, Ludhiana (East)-60, Ludhiana (South)-61, Atam Nagar-62, Ludhiana (Central)-63 and Ludhiana (West)-64, whereas Expenditure Observer Mr Sunil Kumar Gautam would supervise the expenditure of Assembly Constituencies Ludhiana (North)-65, Gill-66, Dakha-68 and Jagraon-70. During the meeting, they further stated that with the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, restrictions regarding carrying of cash have already been issued. They informed that any person can carry up to Rs 50,000 in cash without proof, if any person is carrying between Rs 50,000 to Rs 10 lakh, then valid proof is required, whereas if any person is caught carrying more than Rs 10 lakh in cash (even with valid proof), then that particular case would be immediately handed over to the Income Tax department for further investigation.
