EVERYONE SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN BIGGEST EVENT OF OUR DEMOCRACY: PRADEEP KUMAR AGRAWAL Ludhiana, April 8, 2019: For motivating people to get registered as voters and to make them aware about exercising their right to vote in a free and fair manner, the Election Commission of India has started SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) trains. These SVEEP trains would not only ferry passengers to their destinations but would also spread message for strengthening our democracy. One such SVEEP train, Himsagar Express, was flagged off by District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal from Railway Station, here. While speaking on the occasion, Mr Agrawal said that our vote is our strength and the right to vote is one of the pillars that strengthen our democracy. He said that our constitution gives us the right to exercise our right to vote and everyone should participate in one of the biggest events of our democracy. He said that along with the Indian Railways, the Election Commission of India is taking help of other organisations/departments for voter awareness, that are showing positive results. While briefing out the activities related to voter awareness started by District Administration Ludhiana, Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said that several SVEEP activities would continue till May 19, 2019 and the residents would be educated about casting their vote in free and fair manner. A large number of officials associated with SVEEP activities also participated in today's function and they were also carrying banners and placards showing slogans about importance of voting. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Jagraon)-cum-Nodal Officer SVEEP activities Ludhiana Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta, Assistant Returning Officer Mrs Sonam Chaudhary, besides several others were also present on the occasion.
