LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019: EVERYONE SHOULD EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE IN FREE & FAIR MANNER: DISTRICT ELECTION OFFICER
UNDER ITS SVEEP ACTIVITIES, DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION ORGANISES MARATHON TODAY THOUSANDS OF CITY RESIDENTS PARTICIPATE IN MARATHON Ludhiana, March 31, 2019: With an aim to motivate the residents to exercise their right to vote and also to educate them about the importance of voting, District Administration today organised a marathon at Punjab Agricultural University, here. This marathon was organised in two different categories, i.e. 5km and 10 km and more than 3,000 residents participated in it. Today’s marathon was flagged off by District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal. Prominent among those present on the occasion included ADC Jagraon-cum-Nodal Officer SVEEP activities Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta, ADCP Mr Surinder Lamba, IAS (Under Training) Mr Sagar Setia, besides several others. Mr Agrawal not only flagged off the marathon but even completed it in 5 kilometres category. While addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that the main aim of organising this marathon is to motivate the residents to exercise their right to vote and also to educate them about the importance of voting. This marathon was organised by the district administration under its SVEEP activities in collaboration with the Punjab Sports Department. He said that several activities to encourage the voters have been lined up in coming days. On this occasion, the participants took oath to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in a free and fair manner. A signature campaign was also launched on the occasion. He said that our vote is our strength and right to exercise vote is basis of the strength of our democracy. He said that our constitution gives us the right to exercise our vote without any fear and everyone should vote in the upcoming elections. A large number of voters as well as school students also participated in today’s marathon. The first 10 winners were awarded with medals while certificates were given to all participants. SDM East Mr Amarjit Singh Bains, SDM West Mr Amrinder Singh Malhi, SDM Jagraon Mr Baljinder Singh, Tehsildar West Mr Ajitpal Singh Chahal, Tehsildar East Mr Harsimran Singh, District Sports Officer Mr Ravinder Singh, besides several others were also present on the occasion.
