LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019: SCHEDULE FOR "SUNDAY SVEEP" ACTIVITIES TO BE ORGANISED IN ALL VIDHAN SABHA CONSTITUENCIES ON APRIL 7 ISSUED

LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019:  SCHEDULE FOR
Ludhiana, April 3, 2019: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 elections, special emphasis is given towards educating the masses about getting themselves registered as voters and to exercise their right to vote through the SVEEP activities. The District Administration is organising awareness camps in all constituencies of the district, where people are educated about the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs)/VVPAT. On April 7, 2019, “Sunday SVEEP” activity would be organised in all constituencies of the district from 5 pm to 6 pm. The schedule regarding these activities was issued today. Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagraon-cum-Nodal Officer SVEEP Activities Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta has asked all nodal officers to ensure maximum participation of voters so that polling percentage is increased. She informed that on April 7, "Sunday SVEEP" activity would be organised in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the district. Mrs Gupta informed that for making people aware, “Sunday SVEEP” activity would be organised at 8-10 places in each constituency on April 7, where the voters would be educated about becoming a responsible voter, right to vote, EVM’s and VVPAT machines. This activity would be organised in all malls, parks/public places etc where the footfall of people is more. While providing details about the schedule, Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta stated that the "Sunday SVEEP" activity would be organised at 4 places in Khanna Vidhan Sabha constituency, at 5 places in Samrala, at 8 places in Sahnewal, at 8 places in Ludhiana (East), at 10 places in Ludhiana (South), at 10 places in Atam Nagar, at 10 places in Ludhiana (Central), at 7 places in Ludhiana (West), at 8 places in Ludhiana (North), at 10 places in Gill, at 9 places in Payal, at 8 places in Dakha, at 8 places in Raikot and at 7 places in Jagraon Vidhan Sabha constituency. She directed the nodal officers to emphasise more in areas, where polling percentage was low during previous elections. She informed that this time, VVPAT machines would be installed along with all EVM’s. During these awareness camps, people would be educated that the EVM’s are foolproof and the vote would be registered against only that candidate whom they vote for. For this purpose, the Election Commission of India would be installing VVPAT machines along with the EVM in all polling booths, where the voter would be able to see for 7 seconds the name and a serial number of the candidate he/she has cast his/her vote. She further said that for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, several SVEEP activities would be organised in the district in coming days.
