Lok Sabha Polls 2024- First randomization of polling personnel held
The district administration conducted the first randomization of polling staff for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls at the district administrative complex on Monday, in the presence of District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney.
Ludhiana, April 29, 2024: The district administration conducted the first randomization of polling staff for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls at the district administrative complex on Monday, in the presence of District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney.
The randomization process was carried out in the NIC office using dedicated DISE software. The aim was to classify more than 17962 employees from centre and state governments, banks, and public sector undertakings, who have been assigned several duties during the polls. The process was conducted as per the guidelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure fairness and impartiality in the selection of polling staff.
The randomization process was aimed at assigning duties to the staff for the polling schedule to take place on June 1 at 2921 booths in the district. The employees have been assigned duties as Presiding Officers (PRO), Assistant PRO, and Polling Officers (PO) during the polls. Adequate staff would also be deputed for counting, to be held on June 4.
The District Election Officer reiterated that the district administration was duty-bound to ensure smooth and hassle-free polling on June 1. She said that the administration had put an elaborate arrangement in place for this purpose. Every effort would be made to ensure a free and fair election process in the district. According to the latest report, Ludhiana has a total of 2684239 voters, including 1430428 males, 12536612 females, and 149 third genders.
