LOKPAL OF PUNJAB: NGOs and intellectuals welcome appointment

Ferozepur, November 14, 2012: The Punjab chief minister, Parkash Singh Badal has done commendable job by appointing an honest, eminent jurist, and of impartial attitude, retired Justice Jai Singh Sekhon, as Lokpal of Punjab. 

These views were expressed by Ashok Kumar Handa, retired district public relations officer in a special meeting held today with the representatives of various local NGOs, educational institutions and intellectuals.
In this meeting, Dr.Satinder Singh president Agreed Foundation, Dr. M. S. Dhillon, Baldev Singh Bhullar, Balwant Singh besides prominent local citizens were present.

Ashok Handa said, “It is a matter of proud for the citizens of Ferozepur that a resident of Ferozepur retired Justice Jai Singh Sekhon has been appointed as Lokpal, Punjab. Justice Sekhon started his professional career by starting his practice as an Advocate and due to his honesty and impartial way of thinking, got the honour of Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court from the post of District and Session Judge.  Not only this, he also served as member of Punjab Human 
Rights Commission and Chairman of Sikh Gurudwara Commission”.
In the meeting, a resolution was passed conveying congratulations to Parkash Singh Badal, chief minister, Shivraj Patil, Governor, Punjab and  Sukhbir Singh Badal, deputy chief minister for appointing Justice Sekhon an able and having faith in judiciary, as Lokpal of Punjab and not only the citizens of Ferozepur  but the whole of Punjab is celebrating the appointment of Justice Sekhon as Lokpal Punjab.
