LPU awards Rs 88 Lakh Study Grant to India's top 88 Students
Lovely Professional University (LPU) proudly disbursed a Study Grant of Rs 88 lakh to India's top 88 students studying in prestigious institutions across the country. The grant ceremony, held at the Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, marked the 4th and 5th editions of the 'Study Grant Award Ceremony', which was initiated in 2019. The event was attended by the deserving students, accompanied by their parents and close relatives.
Jalandhar, November 28, 2023: Lovely Professional University (LPU) proudly disbursed a Study Grant of Rs 88 lakh to India's top 88 students studying in prestigious institutions across the country. The grant ceremony, held at the Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, marked the 4th and 5th editions of the 'Study Grant Award Ceremony', which was initiated in 2019. The event was attended by the deserving students, accompanied by their parents and close relatives.
Over the past editions, LPU has awarded a total of Rs 6.8 crore in study grants to deserving students across various LPUNEST editions. The grants were distributed to students pursuing their education in esteemed institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIMs, NLUs, IHMs, NIDs, NIFTs, AIIMs, and government universities and colleges (central/state).
The Founder Chancellor and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, disbursed the study grants this year. In his address to the awardees and their parents, Dr Mittal highlighted the achievements of prominent Indians in various fields, including the likes of UK's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (Leadership), Satya Nadella (Corporate Industry), and Neeraj Chopra (Sports). He urged all Indian students to embrace the responsibility of making India a great nation. Dr Mittal assured the students that LPU's faculty would always be available to support their educational needs.
Dr Mittal also commended the country's efforts in providing international-level education and acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives in implementing the "New Education Policy" to foster a self-reliant India. He emphasized that LPU, as a leading private university, carries the unique responsibility of contributing to this vision.
The ceremony was attended by LPU's Pro Chancellor, Rashmi Mittal; Pro-Vice Chancellors, Prof Dr Lovi Raj Gupta and Prof Dr Sanjay Modi; and Registrar, Dr Monica Gulati.
Under the 4th edition, a study grant of Rs 30 lakh was disbursed to students from the 2022 batch, while the 5th edition awarded Rs 58 lakh to students from the 2023 batch. Qualified students who participated in the LPUNEST were presented with a study grant of Rs 1 lakh each. These students are pursuing various disciplines, including Engineering, Design, Hotel Management, Fashion, Law, and more, at institutions like IITs, NITs, IIMs, NLUs, IHMs, NIDs, IITs (IDC/DoD), NIFTs, AIIMs, and government universities and colleges (central/state).
Sharing her experience, Raj Shree, a recipient of the grant pursuing CSE from IIT Delhi, expressed her gratitude and mentioned how the award has boosted her confidence. She also appreciated LPU's inclusive approach of considering students from institutions other than LPU on merit. Another proud parent of a student ranked 6th in NIT applauded the initiative.
The "LPUNEST Study Grant" is an initiative by LPU to recognize and support talented and meritorious students, irrespective of whether they are enrolled at LPU or not. The university aims to honor and encourage excellence among students through this program.
Apart from the "LPUNEST Study Grant," LPU also offers various other scholarships and awards based on factors such as performance in prerequisite exams (10+2 or graduation), sports, culture, research and development, co-curricular activities, social service, and bravery accolades. Additionally, special scholarships are available for orphans, physically disabled students, and individuals with a military background.
