Jalandhar, June 21,2024: Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated International Yoga Day 2024 at its campus. The event witnessed the participation of students, faculty and staff members, as well as hundreds of NSS volunteers and NCC cadets who are currently camping at the LPU campus.
Aligned with the international theme of the year, "Yoga for Self and Society," LPU embraced the essence of this ancient practice, emphasising that yoga extends beyond personal well-being. It fosters a profound connection between the inner self and the outer world. To promote better health and wellness among participants, a variety of yoga exercises and activities were performed.
Vinay Sharma, an income tax officer, yoga practitioner, and Art of Living Happiness Programme teacher, was invited as a resource person of the day. Mr. Sharma provided guidance on pranayama, the breathing exercises integral to yoga practice. Pranayama techniques such as Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati, and Bhramari were taught, known for their stress-reducing and mind-calming effects. Additionally, participants were instructed on various yoga poses beneficial for heart disease, diabetes, cervical pain, migraines, and other conditions.
Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal highlighted the significance of yoga for personal growth and self-discovery. Through regular practice, individuals cultivate self-awareness, enhance physical and mental well-being, and attain inner peace. Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal said Yoga teaches us to embrace the present moment, release stress and anxiety, and connect with our true selves. It empowers individuals to embrace their strengths, overcome limitations, and unlock their full potential. He told everyone to reaffirm their commitment to practice yoga for personal and societal betterment.
