LPU gives Rs 1.25 lac to each family of Pulwama Martyrs
Remembered and revered martyrs on the first anniversary of the dastardly and deceitful attack on duty bound CRPF Personnel of the country in Pulwama
Jalandhar: In order to support and strengthen the bereaved families of Pulwama Martyrs, Lovely Professional University (LPU) accorded financial aid in the form of Rs 1.25 lac each to Pulwama Martyrs family. Occasion was the observance of the first anniversary of the dastardly and deceitful attack on duty bound CRPF Personnel of the country in Pulwama (Sri Nagar), last year on 14th of February. In a unique homage paying event at the campus, hundreds of National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) Volunteers at LPU paid homage to Pulwama Martyrs. Students held candle march in the evening hours to remember and revere ‘Martyrs’. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal and Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal handed over the cheques to kin of all the Martyrs from the Punjab State.
Martyrs glorified at LPU included Jaimal Singh, Maninder Singh Attri, Kulwindeer Singh and Sukhjinder Singh. The Family Members those received the cheques are Mrs Sukhjeet Kaur (Wife of Jaimal Singh); Mr Satpal Attri (Father of Martyr Maninder Singh Attri); Mr Darshan Singh (Father of Kulwinder Singh ); and, Mrs Sarbjit Kaur (Wife of Sukhjinder Singh). Seeing a lot many young professionals before him at the campus, Father Satpal Attri turned emotional while sharing: “My son too wanted to be an engineer; however, he joined CRPF out of passion to serve the country. Now being honoured among the young professionals at LPU due to the sacrifice of my son is making me feel proud of him and others like him. He has really brought dignity, decorum and dashing spirit unto me.”
Sharing that all of these martyrs were exceptional individuals who devoted their lives to serving and protecting the nation, Executive Dean at LPU Prof Dr Sanjay Modi orated out much quoted poetic lines from the poem ‘Pushp Kee Abhilasha’ of a reputed Hindi Poet, and aroused patriotic fervour among LPU youth.
On this occasion, NCC students saluted the departed souls militarily. NSS volunteers are also initiating to collect more funds for the families of the martyrs through their own ends.
