LPU lifted AIU’s Second Runners-Up Championship Trophies for All India Inter-University Boxing and Football tournaments
In addition, winning medals at North-Zone Inter University Championship tournaments; LPU’s women badminton and basketball teams have also qualified for ‘All India Inter University tournaments, to earn national glory
Jalandhar, January 8, 2022: Along with the onset of new-year 2022, Lovely Professional University (LPU) is carrying forward its legacy of winning spree by lifting Association of Indian Universities’ two second ‘Runners-Up’ championship trophies for All India Inter-University competitions held for Football (Women) at Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu; and, in Boxing (Men) held at three boxing rings of LPU in Punjab, respectively.
Director and Organizing Secretary of All India Inter University Women Football Tournament, Dr M Raja Shekaran informed that in the final four teams reached on the national level from all 4 zones of the country; LPU team stands second runners up by clinching bronze medal. LPU team got declared ahead of GNDU, Amritsar; whereas, CBLU Bhiwani declared winner and Annamalai University first runners-up. The LPU girls played skilfully and made their dominating presence felt among the football loving spectators. Prior to this, LPU’s women football team got the coveted top position during AIU’s north zone Inter-university championship-2021, where it exhibited the best of football skills in kicking, throwing, carrying and scoring.
The Organizing Secretary of All India Inter University Boxing Tournament, Associate Director Prof Dr V Kaul at LPU informed that LPU team stands second runners-up by winning 3 gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal. LPU boxers revealed the unique power of their hooks and punches for onlookers’ immense applause. Here, Kurukshetra University (KUK) Haryana was declared winner; whereas, PU Chandigarh first runners-up.
In addition, LPU’s joys now know no bounds with its girls’ badminton team winning ‘Silver Medal’; and, basketball team bronze medal in their respective North-Zone Inter University Championship tournaments. Both of these teams are now qualified to reveal their strengths at All India Inter University tournaments to earn national pride.
Congratulating the promising sportsmen-women of the university, LPU Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal has invoked them all to be on the foot-prints of LPU’s Olympians and other international and national winners for bringing glory to the nation and university.
