LPU lifts AIU’s North-East Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho (Men) Championship Trophy
The North East Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho (Men) Championship-2023-24 was hosted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at the Kho Kho Game Compound of Lovely Professional University (LPU). The participating teams competed fiercely against one another, while LPU’s team grabbed the Championship trophy from all other strong considered government, state and other private universities of the zone. The fast scorer in the matches, Prince of LPU (Chest Number 8) has also been announced as the ‘Best Player’ of the Championship.
Jalandhar, January 20, 2024: The North East Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho (Men) Championship-2023-24 was hosted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at the Kho Kho Game Compound of Lovely Professional University (LPU). The participating teams competed fiercely against one another, while LPU’s team grabbed the Championship trophy from all other strong considered government, state and other private universities of the zone. The fast scorer in the matches, Prince of LPU (Chest Number 8) has also been announced as the ‘Best Player’ of the Championship.
Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar declared first runner-up; Panjab University Chandigarh (second runner-up); and, Maharishi Dayanand University Rohtak at fourth place.
LPU’s Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal congratulated the winners and encouraged them to keep up the winning trend by adopting true sportsmanship and competitive spirit. Mittal also shared: “Be any field of curricular or co-curricular activities, LPU students always prove themselves par-excellence.”
LPU’s players displayed the finest of the game’s running and chasing talents throughout the matches they played against their opponents. As a result, they were able to clinch the winners’ trophy away from their strong competitors. Before this also, women's Kho-Kho team of LPU has already won the Zonal championship trophy.
Having a very high level of competition, Kho-Kho is one of India’s most well-known and widely played traditional games. Each of the participating teams is composed of 12 players, of which 9 join the playing field and the remaining 3 become the members of the defending team.
