LPU motorsports teams won 11 prestigious awards at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida
LPU teams also won the overall championship and multiple awards in the combustion and electric vehicle categories
Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University (LPU) proudly commends the remarkable achievements of the Voltrons and Deuce Racer team at the Indian Karting Race 2024, which concluded at Buddh International Circuit. It was organized by the Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE) India. The event attracted more than 60 teams from engineering fields across India. The Buddh International Circuit stands as India's sole Formula 1 circuit. It was the first circuit to bring international motorsport to India. Its advanced facilities and infrastructure make it a premier venue for international motorsport competitions.
LPU teams were challenged to design and fabricate prototype vehicles from scratch, focusing on engineering design, cost and manufacturing, marketability, and dynamic performance. The LPU team was crowned overall champion in both the combustion and electric vehicle categories, winning a total cash prize of ₹1.6 lakhs. Students excelled by securing a total of 11 prestigious awards across combustion (CV) and electric vehicle (EV) categories.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, praised the participants for their outstanding achievements, emphasizing the powerful collaboration among diverse engineering disciplines coming together to excel in national and international platforms. Dr. Mittal remarked, “This achievement is more than just a win for the teams; it reflects the unwavering dedication, innovative spirit, and teamwork at LPU. Together, we are shaping a future where our engineers don’t just compete but lead on the global stage.”
The Indian Karting Race is a competition that provides a platform for engineering students from institutions across the country to gain hands-on practical experience while applying classroom theories. LPU team's accolades include Best Acceleration, Lightweight Award, and Future Award in both categories, as well as recognition for Best Cross Pad and Runner-Up in Endurance for the combustion vehicle and Best Manufacturing and Cost Award in the Electric Category.
The competition comprises various rounds, including static and dynamic evaluations, where expert juries assess each team's work based on engineering principles and real-world performance. This victory underscores the university's students' commitment to excellence in engineering and motorsports.
