LPU students and alumni visit the Parliament of India, meet the Vice President and Sonia Gandhi

Jalandhar, April 7, 2025: In a rare and exciting opportunity, over 50 students and alumni from Lovely Professional University (LPU); including many with placement packages exceeding ₹1 crore recently visited the Parliament of India. Students had the privilege of meeting and interactions with several eminent political leaders including Jagdeep Dhankhar, the Vice President of India; Mallikarjun Kharge, President of the Indian National Congress; Politician Sonia Gandhi, Derek O’Brien, AITC MP, quizmaster and author; Renuka Choudhary, Former Union Minister, INC; Dr. Sandeep Kumar Pathak, AAP MP; and M. Anil Kumar Yadav, MP Rajya Sabha, INC Telangana.These prominent political figures shared valuable insights into the nation's governance.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Founder Chancellor of LPU, facilitated this visit and emphasized, “It is essential for the youth of our nation to experience firsthand how the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha function, as these institutions play a crucial role in shaping India's future. Such experiences help cultivate civic awareness and a deeper sense of responsibility among students."
The students also had the rare opportunity to witness a Rajya Sabha session, gaining experience of the legislative processes that influence the country’s decisions. They were struck and captivated by the architectural magnificence of the Parliament, which seemed to embody the entire nation within its walls, symbolizing India’s vast diversity and strength.
Sri Vishnu, a final year B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) student, who has secured a placement package of Rs 2.5 crore shared the experience, "Visiting the Parliament was truly overwhelming and transformative. Walking through the corridors of power filled us with a deep sense of patriotism and purpose. It inspired us to engage more meaningfully with society and contribute actively to the nation’s progress."
