LPU students made Kapurthala District handball team win state championship trophy and gold medals
Occasion was 43rd Senior State Handball (M/W) Championship
Jalandhar: 43rd Senior State Handball (M/W) Championship was recently held at Sri Anandpur Sahib Khalsa Academy, Lakhan Kala, Kapurthala. Outpacing other strong teams from across the Punjab State, including 11 times Winner Ropar Team; District Kapurthala Handball team, comprised of all LPU students, brought laurels to the State & Lovely Professional University. The devoted students’ team lifted scintillating Winners’ Trophy and Gold Medals for the Championship. Punjab Handball Association had held the competitions among all district teams of the Punjab State. To win the finals, Ropar team was defeated by 6 goals in Semi-final; and, Sangrur team was crushed by 5 goals in the final match.
The participating students from LPU are Bhawana, Priyanka, Gagandeep, Gayatri, Amandeep, Kajal, Rajwant, Harjinder, Rohini and Anu. Scintillating winning trophy and Gold Medals were bestowed upon by the Secretary, Punjab Handball Association, Mr Amanbir Singh Sidhu.
Worth mentioning, prior to this also LPU students have displayed the best of sports skills in diverse competitions not only at the state and national levels but internationally also.
In fact, LPU has the best physical education institution in India at the Punjab- the School of Physical Education. Apart from preparing physical education teachers, it is also credited for nurturing sports persons with an aim to participate in Olympics, Asian games and other national & international competitions. Rigorous academic and sports training is delivered by expert faculty members in international standard sports grounds and training fields. As such, its students are winning accolades in India and abroad.
