LPU Wins North Zone Inter-University Women’s Kho-Kho Championship 2024-2025
Jalandhar; December 17, 2024: Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted the North Zone Inter-University Women’s Kho-Kho Championship 2024-2025, drawing 35 teams and 400+ players across northern India. Over four days, teams competed for a place in the top four and a golden chance to qualify for the National All India University (AIU) Kho-Kho Championship.
On the final day, LPU emerged as the tournament champions, with Panjab University, securing the first runner-up spot and Dayanand University, Rohtak, taking third place. The LPU women’s team impressed with their exceptional running and chasing skills, defeating tough regional competitors to claim the title. Ramandeep Kaur of LPU was awarded Player of the Match for outstanding performance and skill.
The closing ceremony began with a flag-hosting ceremony and the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and spirit. The event’s chief guest, Er. HR Singla, Director General of LPU, congratulated the teams for their dedication and sportsmanship, underscoring the importance of sports in developing discipline, teamwork, and resilience among students. Dr.Vir Ji Koul, additional Director of Sports at LPU, congratulated the athletes for their hard work and achievements.
The tournament served as a fantastic platform for young women athletes to showcase their talent in Kho-Kho, a traditional Indian sport that requires speed, agility, and strategic thinking. Across the knockout rounds, quarter-finals, and semi-finals, players demonstrated remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and competitive spirit.
