LPU’s International Student selected Campus Director for ‘One Million Dollar ‘Hult Prize’

Jalandhar: One of the international students at LPU Emmanuel Borna Peasah of B.Pharmacy Program has  been  selected  Campus Director to  lead  the  execution  of world’s biggest  ‘Hult  Prize’ program at the university. Hult Prize is world’s largest competition, where students from across the world compete with start-up ideas to solve a vital global social issue, and the finalist wins ‘One Million US Dollar’ award. Also known as ‘Students’ Nobel Prize’, this prestigious “Prize” is open to LPU Students since 2018. Former US President Bill Clinton holds that ‘Hult Prize’ is how the world has to work in the 21st century.
Patronizing the event, President Clinton announces each year a problem statement on one of the critical global issues, to challenge students to come up with disruptive solutions. Student teams from around the world work on it to develop unique ideas. The best ideas from each University compete at the National level. The selected teams compete at the Global level, culminating at an intensive accelerator at Boston. It follows by the ‘Grand Finals’ hosted by President Clinton at New York. The winner startup idea gets a million dollar seed fund, visibility, branding, and investor attention to start-up their social enterprise. Whereas, all other participating teams earn valuable insight, knowledge, experience, and a positive world view.
LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated the hard-working international student, who has grabbed the golden global opportunity even during the toughest pandemic times. Head of Global Programs ‘Hult Prize Foundation’, Nelly Andrade has informed that Emmanuel will now lead with the goal of training,  educating  and  inspiring  students at LPU campus, for ‘On-Campus Programs’. Winning teams will advance directly to one of Hult Prize Regional Summits taking place around the world in March and April 2021.
Belonging to Accra City of Ghana, Emmanuel feels honoured at this selection and shares that only LPU could provide him such an opportunity. He adds: “Now, as a Campus Director I will get a coveted chance, among other several benefits, to represent LPU among many universities around the world in Boston, London or Melbourne.” Worth mentioning, one other BSc Economics student of LPU, Sayan Guchait had even attended the next stages of the competition in foreign lands, where his work was much appreciated and awarded too. 
With a decade of impact, the Hult Prize has crafted challenges and helped launch startups that actively solve United Nations’ SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Since 2010, winning startups are for Education- one laptop per child;  in 2011 Clean Water- m.paani; then Energy Poverty-sunny money; Global Food Crisis-aspire food group; Healthcare; Early Childhood Education-impact; Doubling Income; Refugee Crisis; in 2018 ‘Harnessing the Power of Energy’;¬ in 2019 Youth Unemployment; and, now in 2020, Bold Businesses for a Better Planet. In partnership with the United Nations, the Hult Prize Foundation transforms how young people envision their own possibilities as leaders of change in the world around them.
