LPU’s NCC students selected for International Cultural Exchange Programme in Singapore
Selected from all cadets of nearly 30 institutions attached to 8 Punjab Battalion NCC Unit
Jalandhar, September 23, 2021: Two of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) students at Lovely Professional University (LPU) have been selected for the International Cultural Exchange Programme (ICEP) to be held in Singapore from 18-19 November 2021. LPU students-Under Officer Abhishek Kumar of BTech Computer Science & Engineering and Cadet Nidhi Prakash of BSc (Computer Science) will represent 8 Punjab Battalion NCC Unit Phagwara on international level. The selection procedure is very stringent, where all round personality of the cadet is judged by senior ranks on various norms.
ICEP is an international platform where students from different countries come together. This participation will surely help both LPU students to gain a lot of knowledge about diverse cultures from all across the world. LPU students have been selected from all cadets of nearly 30 institutions attached to 8 Punjab Battalion NCC Unit.
LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated the selected cadets, and shared: “We aim to mentor our students to be an organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life. All of them are expected to serve the nation and global society in a befitting manner, regardless of the career they opt for.”
Commanding Officer Colonel Yogesh Bhardwaj of the Battalion and Lieutenant Kamaljeet Singh, Associate NCC Officer (ANO) at LPU, informed: “For such a prestigious ‘Exchange Programme’ abroad, both of LPU students have been shortlisted to represent India in Singapore for the Year 2021. They are the only NCC Cadets from the 8 Punjab Battalion of NCC (Phagwara, Punjab) who are going to participate in Singapore, along with the rest selected from other parts of the country.”
Selected NCC cadets will participate in an exchange programme, which is a country to country exchange of cadets belonging to NCC. They will participate in NCC activities of the host country to create an increased awareness and appreciation of each other’s socio-economic and cultural realities. The benefits of this programme have been widely acknowledged, where cadets share strong bonds with programme partners.
In fact, NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, and secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens of the nation.
