LPU’s three Engineering Students qualify for WorldSkills Competition-2022 to be held in Shanghai, China
LPU students proved their mettle among 2 lakh 50 thousand (2,50,000) students registered to reach and win at the national level ‘India Skills Competition 2022’
Jalandhar, January 17, 2022: Under the aegis of the Government of India Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE); National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) had organized ‘IndiaSkills Competition-2022’ at regional and national levels to find out skills-based talent from across the country. For this, 2 lakh 50 thousand students had registered to reach and win at the national level competition. Proving their mettle among all competitors, three engineering students of Lovely Professional University (LPU) have qualified nationally for making an access to high-status 46th WorldSkills Competition-2022, to be held in Shanghai, China. Known as the ‘Olympics of Skills’-this biggest vocational education and skills excellence event reflects the benchmarks of the global industry.
Three qualifying students from LPU include silver medal winner 3rd year BTech Electrical & Electronic Engineering student Pankaj G, who hails from Bangalore. The other two bronze medal winners are also 3rd year BTech students- Gagan Bisen from Madhya Pradesh of Civil Engineering; and, Logesh B from Tamil Nadu of Computer Science Engineering. They have won medals in the national competitive events for Industry 4.0; Wall & Floor Tiling; and, IT Network System, respectively. These LPU students are now all set on the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India- the ‘Skill Capital of the World’.
In all, 270 medals and medallions winners of ‘IndiaSkills’ this year will now further undergo rigorous training for final selection to represent India at five-day ‘WorldSkills’ competition to be held from October 12 to 17, 2022, in China. In this international event in China, more than 1,400 young professionals, representing 83 countries & regions will come together to compete in 60 skills. The event will take place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai.
Congratulating the globally talented students, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal appreciated them for their winning passion and perseverance with which they competed, and are further working to win world accolades. Mr Mittal also shared: “We have always focussed on imparting practical skills-based education and hands-on practices. We feel that skills create opportunities and enhance economic growth as well. Such competitions indeed raise awareness about the importance of skilling in students’ lives which prepare them for the jobs and challenges of the future.
Now, the government, industry and concerned experts will work together to ensure that ‘Team India’ of such students is best equipped with the desired training and tools to perform their best at WorldSkills International Competition. All three of them will further nurture their skills, till the commencing time of the global competition, and get set to make India and LPU proud by finally winning at the international competition.
