Bengaluru, June 8, 2018: Stemming from the London School of Economics and Political Science’s (LSE’s) motto of "understanding the causes of things", the Indian School of Business & Finance’s (ISBF) three day Playnomics Workshop attracted interest from some of the city’s top schools while attaining popularity among their students. The Playnomics Workshop, held between 4th & 6th June, 2018, were designed to help students gain an understating of the basic concepts of economics, management and finance through role-play games. The workshops benefitted around 500 students in top schools like St.Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Presidency Boy’s School, Whitefield Global School, DPS (North Bangalore) and Ebenezer International School. The workshops focussed on concepts taught as part of the Economics, Commerce, Business Studies and Finance curricula across different boards (CBSE, ICSE, IB, IGCSE and State Boards), such as strategy, negotiation, comparative advantage, basis for trade and gains from trade and was delivered using real-world situations.

Mr.Jishnu Vipin, Senior Economics teacher at St.Joseph’s Boys’ High School commented, “It was a wonderful session.” He added, “The workshop invoked the investor in all of us. Creative way of using the game of Cricket and IPL to analyse the investment decisions.”

Senior Commerce Teacher of Presidency Boy's School, Ms. Rinu Jain, also commented on the Playnomics Workshop stating, "It was one of of the best student workshops I have ever attended!". Continuing about the workshop, she added, "It is really an innovative way to make concepts simple and more relatable to daily life. It will certainly go a long way to make the subject interesting to the students."

The workshops were designed to involve, engage and entertain, while teaching students at all stages in the form of games and role play. The workshop has been designed by ISBF to propel the students’ ability to think prudently, come up with analytical solutions and emerge successful. The workshop makes a significant impact on the student community, while developing a didactic relationship with the school’s faculty members, who are also present during the workshop.

Commenting on his experience on conducting the workshops, Mr.Aryapriya Ganguly, Associate Professor in Social & Applied Psychology, Sociology and Human Resource Mangement, ISBF and Playnomics Workshop Convener stated, “We are really glad that the leading schools of the city welcomed the idea of the Playnomics Workshop and exhibit their eagerness to leverage the value addition that ISBF provides”. Sharing the response of students, he further added, “The perception of learning from practice of concepts has been very well appreciated by the students and they feel that more course modules like these would make learning more joyful and the classroom more exciting.”
